Originally from Los Angeles, Musician Seaman Jacob H. Lieberstein began his musical training early in life through the influence of his family’s musical and artistic enthusiasm.

He began playing the Oboe in middle school and received career ambition from his first teacher Fred Beerstein, oboist in the New West Symphony. In high school the foundations for orchestral musicianship were laid by studying with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s legendary former principal oboist David Weiss, and joining the youth orchestra program at California State University Northridge under the direction of Dr. John Roscigno who encouraged Jacob’s musical aspiration by encouraging him to make English Horn playing part of his musical life. Jacob moved to New York City after high school to attend the Manhattan School of Music where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe under the instruction of Robert Botti, Oboist, New York Philharmonic. He earned his Master of Music degree and Professional Diploma in Orchestral Studies under the tutelage of Chicago Symphony oboist Lora Schaefer at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

As a professional musician Jacob served as Principal Oboe of the Tuscia Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy, and Chicago Summer Opera. He has also performed with Camerata New York, Brooklyn Symphony, Ensemble 212, West Michigan Symphony, South Bend Symphony, Peoria Symphony, Chicago Arts Orchestra, The Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Festival.

Jacob won a position with the US Navy fleet band program in 2017 and subsequently enlisted that same year. In 2018 he graduated the Naval School of Music and was awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Instrumental Achievement by Lieutenant Commander, R.J. Wrenn, the school's commanding officer, and was the subject of a Meritorious Mast conducted by Chief Warrant Officer-05, B.J. Bartholomew, the commanding officer of the school's Marine detachment. After graduating he moved to Naples, Italy to begin tenure with the US Naval Forces Europe Band.
